I adore peacock feathers! I have a display of peacock feather ornaments in my bedroom, so as soon as I saw these copper enamel earrings by Helene Carter I had to make them my ‘gem of the day’.
Helene is an enamel artist living and working in the Kootenay Lake region of British Columbia, Canada. Her studio is open to the public with an adjoining gift shop. Oh, how I dream of having a studio / shop arrangement like this.
Another thing that drew me to Helen’s peacock feather earrings were the enamelling techniques used. First the enamel powders are fired in a kiln, then the flowing feather patterns are made by scrolling a red-hot iron rod through the molten glass. The result of the vibrant enamel patterns on the copper are stunning.
