Every year the Queen awards honours to nominated members of the United Kingdom in recognition for their achievements or services.  If you haven’t heard of this before you can learn more about the new years honours process here. Nearly 1000 people received honours on 4 January 2012 and you can see the variety of good work recognised on the full honours list. These include philanthropists,  members of parliament,  famous faces,  community heroes, those working in education, health, industry, science, arts, media and sport.

How wonderful that Jacqueline Mina renowned Goldsmith and Jeweller has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) this year. Very  inspirational!

Also, entrepreneurs Annoushka Ducas and John Ayton have both been awarded Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBEs) for services to the British Jewellery and watch Industry.

Congratulations to all three of you and of course to the other award winners for their sterling work.  Look out for me on next years new years honours list (only joking!)
