Gem of the Day – Emily Gill

I think the jewellery of Emily Gill is astounding. I particularly like her bold, unusual designs and vibrant colours. As she describes them herself, they are ‘one of a kind’ pieces. Both Emily and I are inspired by biology, botany and science which is another reason I am attracted to her work. The mitosis pendant / brooch pictured here is obviously inspired by cell biology. She is an award winning jeweller, based in Toronto (which is where I was born incidentally) who has appeared in many publications. She describes her amazing enamel jewellery much better than I can here.
