From 7-29 May 2011 a melange of artists, designers, musicians, actors, comedians, sculptors, poets, thinkers, players, singers, dancers, photographers, reactionaries, creators and entertainers who’ve been beavering away in their offices, studios, workshops, practice halls and bedrooms come out of hiding to show you what they are made of ! Brighton quite literally comes alive with creative flair, something to suit every person on the planet I reckon.

Brighton Festival  comprises contemporary music, visual arts and film, dance and circus, theatre, books and debate and kids events. Venues vary from the pavilion style Dome, Brightons parks, theatres, universities, churches and more. It has many great sponsors and many big names will be there for instance guest director this year is Aung San Suu Kyi. Others to look out for are Brian Eno, Anish Kapoor, Julian Assange, Shakespeare (ok the Bard won’t actually be there himself but you get my drift!). Brighton Fringe Festival is a packed schedule of mainly local talent ranging from cabaret, classical, comedy, dance, theatre, film, kids, literature, music and workshops. The streets of Brighton become the stage for Fringe City on 7, 21 and 28 May when most things are free and its brilliant fun. Other venues can be found in homes, shops, pubs, galleries, churches, the pier, even a beach hut ! you name it there is probably something going on there. The Great Escape Festival if the daytime activities aren’t enough for you thenfrom 12-14 May in 300 venues across the city you can listen to 300 bands play. Would quench the thirst of most die hard music fans out there. There is everything from dance to indie to hiphop and so much more I’m not going to even start mentioning all the bands cos there are just so many. You’d better look and book here:http://escapegreat.com
