I loved my jewellery classes this week…

So this week was my first week back teaching silver jewellery making classes in my Shoreham studio and I loved it. I had 3 full days of teaching. I helped 7 great students to design and handmake silver jewellery. One student came to my bangle making workshop, 3 came to learn to make earrings and 3 came to make silver rings.

Teaching challenges me but I like be challenged as it keeps me interested in what I do. I love it when my students come along with their own unique ideas. It is refreshing to meet people with enthusiasm and creativity. Every student who comes to me with their own ideas keeps me motivated and reminds me how passionate I am about handmade silver jewellery making.

All my students this week were given gift vouchers for jewellery classes as a Christmas present. It’s becoming more and more popular to give a creative person who has everything this kind of gift voucher. A 3 hour silver jewellery workshop is a fun and fantastic  way to spend some time out from work. And the best part is that my students get to take home their handmade gift at the end of the jewellery making class. Pretty much 100% of my students are thrilled with what they’ve achieved and that makes me very happy.

RIP David Bowie

David Bowie

I first listened to David Bowie while on a family holiday at a cottage in Bamburgh circa 1980. Me and my cousins played Space Oddity on an 8 track cassette cartridge (pre cassette tape) on something like a Lear Jet player that was in the living room of the cottage. Space Oddity was my favourite track on that holiday and played it non stop. This sad day has brought back so many memories. I have Bowie songs on a loop in my head right now. It’s hard not to have his music influence your life in some way. What a talent and such a sad loss.

RIP David Bowie
